Madison County Green Party Affiliated With State Party

On April 16, 2007, the Illinois Green Party announced that the Madison County Green Party was officially affiliated with the state party. Over the last few weeks, a small group of Madison County citizens have been meeting to formalize the Madison County Green Party.

The following positions were filled by the Madison County Green Party:

Chairman of Madison County Green Party – Rodger Jennings, Alton
Treasurer of Madison County Green Party - Keith Powell, Alton
Secretary of Madison County Green Party – Danielle Swan, Edwardsville
Representative to State Party (LGP) – Mark Mallion, Edwardsville

Trustee 1 – Mike Toje, Edwardsville
Trustee 2 - Erick Gates, Edwardsville
Trustee 3 – Tim Bethel, Alton

The Madison County Green Party passed by-laws in accordance to the requirements to become affiliated with the state Illinois Green Party.

“We have made an important step in Madison County allowing the voters another choice to represent them”, said Jennings, Chairman. “It is our goal next to identify key races to focus on in 2008 and announce our candidates for these races.”

Currently the Madison County Green Party has been alternating places to hold meetings but is looking for a home. The next meeting which is open to the public will be held Tuesday, April 24, at 7:00 pm at the public library in Edwardsville, Illinois.
